Volkswagen Gives US Plant Workers Pay Hike After UAW Ratifies Contracts

Volkswagen gave pay raises to workers at a U.S. plant two days after the United Auto Workers union ratified new contracts for employees of other car makers.

The German car giant said late Wednesday that workers at its assembly factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, will receive an 11% pay raise in December. A program that lets entry-level employees reach higher pay grades faster will start in February, Volkswagen said.

On Monday, the UAW said it ratified new contracts with Stellantis, General Motors and Ford following a strike earlier this year that guarantees an immediate pay increase of 11% and a hike of 25% over four-and-a-half years.
