Microsoft, Chevron share gains contribute to Dow’s 161-point jump

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Tuesday morning with shares of Microsoft and Chevron leading the way for the index. Shares of Microsoft MSFT, +1.75% and Chevron CVX, +2.23% have contributed to the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.30% was most recently trading 161 points (0.5%) higher.

Microsoft’s shares are up $6.21 (2.5%) while those of Chevron have risen $4.07 (2.4%), combining for a roughly 68-point bump for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Home Depot HD, +1.50%, Salesforce CRM, +1.89%, and IBM IBM, +0.91%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the Dow results in a 6.59-point swing.
