Shares of Chevron and Caterpillar are trading higher Friday afternoon, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory.
Shares of Chevron CVX, +8.90% and Caterpillar CAT, +5.54% have contributed about 50% of the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.97% was most recently trading 292 points higher (0.9%). Chevron’s shares are up $13.06 (8.7%) while those of Caterpillar are up $10.89, or 5.8%, combining for a roughly 158-point boost for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Apple Inc. AAPL, +3.28%, Dow Inc. DOW, +1.74%, and 3M MMM, +2.04%. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
