Shares of Amgen AMGN, +3.72% and Verizon VZ, +1.75% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +1.34% was most recently trading 181 points (0.6%) higher. Amgen’s shares have risen $6.27, or 2.5%, while those of Verizon have risen $0.75, or 2.1%, combining for an approximately 46-point bump for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are UnitedHealth UNH, +1.47%, Coca-Cola KO, +2.88%, and Merck MRK, +1.78%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
