Dow’s 131-point climb led by gains for shares of UnitedHealth, Johnson & Johnson

Behind positive gains for shares of UnitedHealth and Johnson & Johnson, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Wednesday afternoon.

The Dow DJIA, -0.15% is trading 131 points, or 0.4%, higher, as shares of UnitedHealth UNH, +1.95% and Johnson & Johnson JNJ, +1.58% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. UnitedHealth’s shares have risen $13.43 (2.8%) while those of Johnson & Johnson are up $4.09 (2.4%), combining for a roughly 115-point bump for the Dow. Merck MRK, +1.28%, Procter & Gamble PG, +1.56%, and McDonald’s MCD, +1.45% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.59-point swing.
