Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. GS, -0.10% rallied 1.7% in premarket trading Thursday, which would be enough to keep futures YM00, -0.27% for the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.33% in positive territory, in the wake of bank and broker’s first-quarter earnings report.
The stock’s implied price gain would add about 36 points to the Dow’s price, while Dow futures were up just 15 points, or less than 0.1%. In comparison, futures ES00, -1.20% for the S&P 500 SPX, -1.21% were down 0.2%. The gain in Goldman shares comes after the company reported first-quarter profit and revenue that fell from a year ago, but were enough to beat expectations.
