Wilmar International’s Fourth-Quarter Net Profit Likely Rose — Earnings Preview

Wilmar International is scheduled to report results for the fourth quarter on Tuesday. Here is what you need to know:

NET PROFIT FORECAST: The plantation company’s fourth-quarter net profit is expected to rise to $408 million from $387 million in the year-earlier period, according to analysts surveyed by FactSet.

REVENUE FORECAST: Revenue likely rose to $15.83 billion from $14.55 billion, according to a FactSet estimate.

WHAT TO WATCH:

— HIGHER PRICES: Price increases for products from Wilmar’s China unit, Yihai Kerry Arawana Holdings Co., are likely to be reflected in the plantation company’s fourth-quarter earnings, Citi analysts say.

— COMMODITY PRICES: Wilmar’s plantation and sugar-milling divisions likely outperformed in the second half of 2021, thanks to strong gains in sugar and crude palm oil prices during the year, according to analysts from UOB Kay Hian. The brokerage expects 2021 to be the best year for both divisions since 2016.
