The stock’s rise snapped a three-day losing streak. PayPal Holdings Inc. closed $79.78 short of its 52-week high ($310.16), which the company achieved on July 26th.

The stock outperformed some of its competitors Wednesday, as Visa Inc. Cl A V, 0.49% fell 0.50% to $208.10, Mastercard Inc. MA, 0.27% rose 0.29% to $329.43, and American Express Co. AXP, -0.11% fell 0.32% to $172.61. Trading volume (14.1 M) eclipsed its 50-day average volume of 8.6 M.
