Dow’s 538-point fall led by losses for Home Depot, Travelers shares

Behind negative returns for shares of Home Depot and Travelers, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is in a selloff Tuesday afternoon. Shares of Home Depot HD, -3.07% and Travelers TRV, -3.08% are contributing to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -1.36% was most recently trading 538 points, or 1.6%, lower.

Home Depot’s shares have fallen $11.02 (3.2%) while those of Travelers are off $4.91, or 3.0%, combining for an approximately 105-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Chevron CVX, -2.62%, American Express AXP, -2.68%, and UnitedHealth UNH, -2.18%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the Dow equates to a 6.58-point swing.
