U.S. stock futures surrendered early-session gains late Thursday, and were last about flat following slight gains earlier in the day by the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite.
After rising about 100 points, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YM00, 0.22% sank and as of 9:30 p.m. Eastern were about flat. S&P 500 futures ES00, 0.22% and Nasdaq-100 futures NQ00, 0.24% behaved similarly. The dip occurred after reports late Thursday that a high-level meeting between U.S. and Chinese diplomats was unproductive. Earlier, the Dow DJIA, -0.15% closed slightly lower, off 39.51 points, or 0.2%, at 26,080.10, while the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.05% gained 1.85 points, or less than 0.1%, to close at 3,115.34, and the Nasdaq COMP, +0.32% rose 32.52 points, or 0.3%, to 9,943.05.
