Shares of American Express and Microsoft are trading lower Tuesday afternoon, leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average slump.
The Dow DJIA, +4.52% was most recently trading 668 points, or 2.5%, lower, as shares of American Express AXP, +7.12% and Microsoft MSFT, +3.67% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline. American Express’s shares are off $5.27, or 4.6%, while those of Microsoft have declined $7.67 (4.4%), combining for an approximately 88-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are 3M MMM, +6.01%, Exxon Mobil XOM, +2.18%, and UnitedHealth UNH, +10.71%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark equates to a 6.78-point swing.
