Nord Confirms Castle Surface Gold Trend to 560 Metres Long Within the High-Grade Silver Mineralization Zones

Prospecting and stripping by Laurentia Exploration returned up to 2.80 g/t gold in new surface samples, lengthening the known gold trend within the Archean rocks overlying the Nipissing diabase which contains current high-grade silver mineralization. A broader fall program of prospecting, stripping and sampling is planned, feeding the expanded Castle East geological silver gold model.

Cobalt, Ontario – August 18, 2026 – TheNewswire – Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. (TSXV: NTH, OTCQB: NPMMF, FSE: QN3) (“Nord” or the “Company”) reports results from its July 2026 prospecting and stripping program at the Castle East property near Gowganda, Ontario.

“The gold corridor gives Castle East a second dimension at surface, above and around the high-grade silver system we continue to target at depth,” said Frank J. Basa, P.Eng., Chief Executive Officer of Nord. “Because crews and equipment were already mobilized, this work was completed at minimal incremental cost. We are not assuming the gold and the silver-cobalt systems are connected; each target will be advanced on its own merits within one district-scale property.”

Highlights

  • A prospecting sample returned 2.80 g/t gold (sample L339955, UTM 17N 520302E 5278971N) at the southwestern end of the program area, extending the strike length of the known surface gold occurrences to approximately 560 metres along the northeast-trending gold corridor.

  • Channel sampling near the overlap of the extended 2023 stripped exposure returned 2.09 g/t gold over 1.6 metres, including 2.51 g/t gold over 0.7 metres and 1.77 g/t gold over 0.9 metres.

  • Grab samples, also from the newly extended and previously exposed 2023 stripped exposure, returned 2.47 g/t and 1.22 g/t gold. Grab samples are selective by nature and are not representative of average grades (see map below).

  • 34 samples were collected in total: seven prospecting, 17 channel and ten grab samples, plus one blank and one standard. All samples were also analyzed for silver.

The results build on surface and drill results previously reported by the Company. Surface sampling in 2023 returned multiple samples grading up to 3.2 g/t gold. Drilling beneath the cover rocks intersected gold below the surface showings, with hole CS-23-123 returning 3.05 g/t gold within an approximately 9 metre downhole zone of anomalous gold in strongly chloritized and fractured rock, including 1.41 g/t gold over 3.83 metres as well as significant silver values within the diabase below in the same hole. The Company intercepted several intervals of silver mineralization, including a high-grade interval of 5,441.4 grams per tonne (gpt) silver over 0.37 meters at a depth of 446.55-446.92 meters downhole and  another intercept from 461.25-462 meters (0.75 meters) returned 3,730 gpt silver. This hole in particular demonstrates the ability to evaluate both gold and silver potential at the same time. The Company’s July 13, 2026, news release consolidated the district’s surface and drill gold results and outlined its gold potential along the Ridout-Tyrrell corridor. All reported widths are downhole or channel lengths; true widths have not been determined.

The 2026 program, completed by Laurentia Exploration between July 13 and 21, extended the 2023 stripped exposure to approximately 10 x 5 metres, where four channels totalling 17 samples on 0.40 to 0.70 metre intervals were cut across newly exposed veins and the main mineralized zone, and enlarged the 2015 stripped exposure to approximately 10 x 10 metres, where grab samples were collected. Prospecting traverses southwest toward Miller Lake documented six new stations. Structural mapping identified three principal vein sets, with the dominant subvertical set, striking north to north-northwest, generally the most strongly mineralized.

Regional Setting

As outlined in the Company’s July 13, 2026 news release, the Castle Gowganda district lies along the Ridout-Tyrrell deformation corridor, the regional structure that hosts IAMGOLD’s producing Côté Gold Mine near Gogama, with the Juby gold deposit in the Shining Tree district along trend. Alamos Gold’s producing Young-Davidson Mine near Matachewan lies to the northeast on the separate Larder Lake-Cadillac deformation zone, framing the district within one of the Abitibi’s most productive settings. The extension of these regional structures onto the Company’s property is interpretive and remains to be confirmed by exploration. Mineralization hosted on nearby or adjacent properties is not necessarily indicative of mineralization hosted on the Company’s property.

Next Steps

A more extensive fall program of prospecting and stripping is being planned, including further cleaning of the 2015 exposure to improve bedrock exposure. Results will be incorporated into the expanded Castle East geological model, which will explicitly define silver, cobalt and coincident gold domains. Assays from altered and mineralized zones intersected in the Archean rocks by recent deep silver drilling remain pending and will be reported once received and reviewed.

Sampling, Analysis and QA/QC

The program and its quality control protocol were planned, supervised and executed by Laurentia Exploration Inc. Samples were recorded using the cellular location in the QField application and confirmed with a Garmin GPSMAP 65s. Prospecting was focussed in areas extending along the known surface gold mineralization trend. One certified blank and one certified standard were inserted among the 34 samples. Samples were analyzed at Swastika Laboratories Ltd. In Swastika, Ontario by fire assay with AA finish for gold and by aqua regia digestion for silver. Grab and prospecting samples are selective by nature and are not representative of average grades on the property. Channel sample intervals are apparent widths.

About Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. (TSXV: NTH) is a silver exploration and development company focused on advancing the Gowganda Silver Tailings Project in Ontario into near-term production. The Company expects to complete a mineral resource estimate for the Project, prepared in accordance with NI 43-101, within the next six months, followed by a technical report on the economics of reprocessing. Nord then intends to finance development of the tailings project on the strength of that study, with cash flow from reprocessing intended to fund exploration across its district-scale, high-grade silver projects, which have the potential for a significant impact on the value of the Company.

Nord’s production strategy is anchored by existing infrastructure. The Company operates TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in Ontario’s historic Cobalt Camp, establishing an integrated position that connects the recovery of historical tailings and high-grade silver exploration with existing processing capacity.

The Company’s 63 sq. km flagship Castle property, including 225 hectares of leases, hosts three of the five most productive past-producing silver mines in the Gowganda Camp (Siscoe-O’Brien, Castle and Millerett) along with the Castle East discovery, a high-grade native silver vein system that remains the focus of ongoing drilling, geological modelling and exploration targeting.

Nord’s integrated processing strategy is intended to support multiple metal-recovery streams. The Re-2Ox hydrometallurgical process, validated at pilot scale through SGS Lakefield, is designed to address arsenic in complex silver-cobalt ores while producing technical-grade cobalt sulphate and other metal products. Together with TTL Laboratories and underground mine access, this approach positions Nord within Ontario’s emerging critical-minerals supply chain.

On August 5, 2026, Nord Precious Metals confirmed it has entered pre-submission consultation with Ontario’s environment ministry on the permitting pathway for its Gowganda silver tailings recovery program — a site holding a historical estimate of roughly 2.96 million ounces of silver sitting at surface, requiring no blasting or underground development to access. The update lands one week after Nord converted a $3 million receivable from a related company into a 3% royalty on a Quebec gold property, and as the Company prepares to present live to investors at the OTCQB Virtual Investor Conference.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Aug. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — USA News Group News Commentary – Ontario’s Cobalt Camp has more than a century of silver mining behind it, and also more than a century of tailings sitting on the surface from mills that recovered a fraction of what they now could. Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. (TSXV: NTH) (OTCQB: NPMMF) (FSE: QN3) has spent the past six months consolidating that opportunity — leases, historical tailings and the only permitted high-grade mill in the district — and its three most recent disclosures show a company now working to convert that consolidated position into a regulatory pathway, a cleaner balance sheet, and investor visibility. On August 5, 2026, the Company confirmed it has opened pre-submission consultation with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (“MECP”) on the environmental permissions needed for its Gowganda tailings recovery program. On July 30, 2026, it announced a debt-to-royalty conversion with a related company, Granada Gold Mine Inc., that extinguishes a $3 million receivable in exchange for a royalty on a producing-district Quebec gold property. And on August 4, 2026, it confirmed CEO Frank J. Basa would present live to investors at the OTCQB Virtual Investor Conference. Taken together, the three releases describe a company moving in parallel on regulatory, balance sheet and visibility fronts toward the same goal: near-term silver production from ground it already controls.

Companies mentioned: Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. (TSXV: NTH) (OTCQB: NPMMF) (FSE: QN3), Granada Gold Mine Inc. (TSXV: GGM), Electra Battery Materials Corporation (TSXV: ELBM) (NASDAQ: ELBM), Pan American Silver Corp. (NYSE: PAAS) (TSX: PAAS), Hecla Mining Company (NYSE: HL), First Majestic Silver Corp. (NYSE: AG) (TSX: AG)

Key Takeaways

  • Nord’s technical team met Ontario’s MECP North Bay District Office and Northern Region Technical Support Section on July 21, 2026 to scope the environmental submissions needed for a Mineral Recovery Permit application under Ontario Regulation 463/24, with a consolidated submission package requested in writing on July 22, 2026.
  • The Gowganda tailings carry a historical, non-current estimate of approximately 1.94 million tonnes grading 47.5 g/t Ag for roughly 2.96 million contained ounces of silver (GeoVector Management, 2011, based on 764 drill holes); an updated NI 43-101 resource estimate is being prepared by GeoVector and expected in the second half of 2026.
  • The material sits at surface and was mined roughly a century ago — recovery is contemplated through modular gravity concentration requiring no blasting, hoisting or underground development.
  • On July 30, 2026, Nord entered a Debt Conversion Agreement with Granada Gold Mine Inc. extinguishing a $3 million receivable in exchange for a 3% net smelter return royalty on Granada’s gold property near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, repurchasable by Granada for $3 million; the deal involves three common directors and requires TSX Venture Exchange approval.
  • A fully funded 5,000-metre drill phase is underway at the Castle East silver discovery, part of a broader planned 30,000-metre program across the Company’s 63 sq. km Castle property.
  • CEO Frank J. Basa presented live at the OTCQB Virtual Investor Conference on August 5, 2026, with 1×1 investor meetings available August 6 and 10-11.

From Capacity to Capability: The Gowganda Permitting Pathway

Nord’s argument, in management’s own words, is that consolidating ground is only half the job. “It is not enough to expand capacity; you must expand capability,” said Frank J. Basa, P.Eng., Chairman and CEO, in the August 5 release. Six months ago, on March 31, 2026, Nord’s acquisition of four mining leases consolidated the historical silver tailings and the most productive past-producing ground in the Gowganda Camp, alongside TTL Laboratories — the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the historic Cobalt Camp. The August 5 release shows the capability side of that equation now being built out: a dedicated permitting team led by Alex Kuhnert, P.Eng. of ERNESCO Technical & Advisory Services as Owner’s Representative; T Engineering Inc. (retained April 8, 2026) handling process and mechanical engineering, including the preliminary process flow sheet presented to MECP; Okane Consultants leading geotechnical and geochemical characterization; GeoVector Management preparing the updated NI 43-101 resource estimate; and Pathway Group, led by former Ontario minister Bill Mauro, coordinating government and stakeholder relations.

Ontario’s Recovery of Minerals regime under Regulation 463/24 has been in force since July 2025 and is designed to streamline tailings recovery from historical mine sites. The Ontario Ministry of Energy and Mines has outlined an approximately 80-day review pathway for a complete Recovery Permit application, and the first permit under the framework was issued in February 2026 to STLLR Gold Inc.’s Hollinger Tailings Project in Timmins — a direct precedent for what Nord is now pursuing at Gowganda. MECP’s environmental track runs in parallel: at the July 21 session, the ministry designated a district contact and advised that, depending on final design, the project may require a site-specific Environmental Compliance Approval and a Permit to Take Water. In written follow-up received July 22, 2026, MECP requested a single consolidated submission covering a project description, site maps, baseline data, water requirements, timelines and Indigenous consultation records.

“The Ministry told us what it needs first: a project description, a site plan, a preliminary water balance, and the baseline characterization program. Each workstream has an assigned owner and each is in motion,” said Alex Kuhnert, Owner’s Representative.

What’s Actually in the Tailings

The Gowganda tailings carry a historical NI 43-101 indicated estimate of approximately 1.94 million tonnes grading 47.5 g/t Ag for roughly 2.96 million contained ounces of silver, prepared by GeoVector Management in 2011 from 764 drill holes totalling 3,012 metres, at a 10 g/t cut-off. Nord characterizes this as a historical estimate only — a qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify it as a current mineral resource, and the Company is not treating it as one. An updated NI 43-101 resource estimate incorporating subsequent work is being prepared by GeoVector and expected in the second half of 2026, to be followed by a technical report on reprocessing economics.

The appeal of tailings recovery as a starting point is capital intensity: the material was mined roughly a century ago and sits at surface, so recovery requires no blasting, hoisting or underground development. The first phase contemplates on-site physical separation through modular gravity concentration, producing a silver-bearing concentrate and a cleaned tailings fraction potentially suitable as engineered backfill, with the processing installation designed to be modular, mobile and redeployable across the Company’s other district tailings holdings.

The Granada Transaction: Turning a Receivable Into a Royalty

On July 30, 2026, Nord announced it had entered a Debt Conversion Agreement and related Net Smelter Return Royalty Agreement with Granada Gold Mine Inc. (TSXV: GGM). Under the agreement, $3 million owed by Granada to Nord will be extinguished in exchange for a 3% net smelter return royalty on the Granada gold property near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. Granada retains the option to repurchase the royalty for $3 million, either as a lump sum or in $1 million tranches, each representing 1% of the NSR.

The transaction is disclosed as a related-party matter: Frank J. Basa, Matthew Halliday and Daniel Barrette are directors of both Nord and Granada, declared their interest, and did not vote on the board resolution approving it. Closing is conditional on TSX Venture Exchange approval, and Nord has indicated it will file a material change report fewer than 21 days before closing in order to proceed on a timely basis. The structure converts a receivable that was sitting on Nord’s balance sheet into a royalty on a producing-district gold asset — exposure to a different commodity and a different jurisdiction than Nord’s core Ontario silver assets, without a further cash outlay.

Visibility: OTCQB Conference and the Broader Portfolio

On August 4, 2026, Nord confirmed that CEO Frank J. Basa would present live at the OTCQB Virtual Investor Conference on August 5, with 1×1 investor meetings available August 6 and August 10-11. The release’s company backgrounder is also where Nord discloses the edges of its portfolio beyond Gowganda and Castle: a 35% ownership interest in Coniagas Battery Metals Inc. (TSXV: COS), which holds nickel-copper-cobalt exploration ground in northern Quebec, and the St. Denis-Sangster lithium project, 32 square kilometres of prospective ground near Cochrane, Ontario. Nord also continues to reference its Re-2Ox hydrometallurgical process, validated at pilot scale through SGS Lakefield, designed to address arsenic in complex silver-cobalt ores while producing technical-grade cobalt sulphate — a process the Company positions within Ontario’s broader critical-minerals supply chain, alongside neighbouring cobalt refiner Electra Battery Materials Corporation.

Electra Battery Materials Corporation (TSXV: ELBM) (NASDAQ: ELBM)

Electra, formerly First Cobalt Corp., is building North America’s only cobalt sulfate refinery in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario — in the same historic Cobalt Camp district where Nord operates. In May 2026, Electra signed a binding $20 million investment agreement with the Government of Canada’s Strategic Response Fund to support completion of the refinery, targeting mechanical completion in Q2 2027 with initial capacity of roughly 5,120 tonnes of battery-grade cobalt, much of it already committed under an offtake deal with LG Energy Solution. Electra illustrates the downstream critical-minerals infrastructure building out in the same district Nord’s Re-2Ox cobalt sulphate ambitions are aimed at.

Pan American Silver Corp. (NYSE: PAAS) (TSX: PAAS)

Pan American is one of the world’s largest primary silver producers and completed its acquisition of MAG Silver Corp. in September 2025, adding a 44% interest in the high-grade Juanicipio mine in Mexico. The deal, structured as $500 million in cash plus approximately 60.2 million Pan American shares, is a reminder of how consolidation plays out at the senior end of the silver sector once a junior’s resource is de-risked — the trajectory a project like Gowganda would need to travel to attract that kind of attention.

Hecla Mining Company (NYSE: HL)

Hecla, the largest primary silver producer in the United States, posted a strong second quarter in 2026: cash flow from operations rose 61% year-over-year to $175 million, with silver output up 8% quarter-over-quarter to 4.2 million ounces and record production at its Lucky Friday mine. Hecla’s results illustrate the operating leverage a well-run, high-grade silver producer can generate in the current price environment — the kind of leverage Nord’s tailings-first, low-capital path to production is designed to reach without the years of underground development Hecla’s assets required.

First Majestic Silver Corp. (NYSE: AG) (TSX: AG)

First Majestic, a primary silver producer with operations across Mexico and the United States, reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $415.5 million, up 57% year-over-year, with net income of $109.4 million and a cash position of $1.09 billion. The company’s shares are up over 111% over the past year. First Majestic’s scale and cash generation represent the far end of the spectrum from where Nord sits today — a useful marker of what sustained silver-price strength can do for a producer once a project reaches production.

These companies are referenced to illustrate the silver and critical minerals sector only and do not imply any partnership, endorsement, affiliation, or comparable financial performance with Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

What to Watch

The Gowganda permitting process is the most consequential near-term thread. A site visit from MECP district staff is expected once scheduled, and the pace at which Nord’s consolidated submission package — project description, site maps, water balance, geochemical recommendations — moves through MECP’s review, alongside MEM’s roughly 80-day Recovery Permit pathway, will show whether Nord can match the timeline STLLR Gold set at Hollinger. The updated NI 43-101 resource estimate for Gowganda, expected from GeoVector Management in the second half of 2026, is the second catalyst: it will determine whether the 2011 historical estimate of roughly 2.96 million ounces holds, grows, or needs to be scaled back once verified to current standards. Closing of the Granada transaction is conditional on TSX Venture Exchange approval and is not yet complete. And the ongoing 5,000-metre drill phase at Castle East, within the broader 30,000-metre program, will continue to generate assay results that test whether mineralization extends across historic property boundaries, as outlined in the Company’s July 13, 2026 release.

The Company operates TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in Ontario’s historic Cobalt Camp, establishing an integrated position that connects the recovery of historical tailings and high-grade silver exploration with existing processing capacity.

The Company’s 63 sq. km flagship Castle property, including 225 hectares of leases, hosts three of the five most productive past-producing silver mines in the Gowganda Camp (Siscoe-O’Brien, Castle and Millerett) along with the Castle East discovery. Castle East hosts a historical estimate reported in 2020 as an Inferred Mineral Resource of 7.56 million ounces of silver grading 8,582 g/t Ag (250.2 oz/ton) in 27,400 tonnes across two sections (1A and 1B) of the Robinson Zone, beginning at a vertical depth of approximately 400 metres (NI 43-101 Technical Report, effective May 28, 2020).

The Company considers the estimate reliable for historical-context purposes because it was prepared by an independent Qualified Person from drill data the author considered suitable, and relevant because it informs ongoing Castle East exploration. Key parameters included a 1.3-metre minimum horizontal width including dilution, uncapped 0.5-metre composites, 1-metre cubic blocks, 3.4 t/m3 specific gravity and two-pass inverse-distance-squared interpolation within search ellipsoids. It was reported in situ without mining dilution at a US$125 mineable-shape cut-off (258 g/t AgEq), including mining, shipping and smelting costs and 95% recovery.

The Inferred Mineral Resource category is directly comparable to the category of the same name under current CIM Definition Standards; no non-CIM category was used. No more recent mineral resource estimate exists. The independent technical report effective December 3, 2025 reviewed subsequent data but reported no current mineral resource estimate, and later drilling remains unincorporated. Verification or upgrading requires Qualified Person validation of the drill, QA/QC and geological data; further drilling and analytical work as required; specific-gravity work; updated assumptions; geological modelling; and a new NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate. A Qualified Person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as a current mineral resource, and the Company is not treating it as a current mineral resource.

About Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

Nord Metals Mining Inc. operates TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the historic Cobalt Camp of Ontario, where the Company has established an integrated position connecting high-grade silver discovery with strategic metals recovery operations.

The Company’s 63 sq. km flagship Castle property, with the addition of 225 hectares of leases, now hosts 3 of the 5 most productive past-producing silver mines in the Gowganda Camp: Siscoe-O’Brien, Castle and Millerett, complemented by the Castle East discovery where drilling has delineated 7.56 million ounces of silver in a now historic, Inferred resource grading an average of 8,582 g/t Ag (250.2 oz/ton) in 27,400 tonnes of material from two sections (1A and 1B) of the Castle East Robinson Zone, beginning at a vertical depth of approximately 400 metres. The report, titled NI 43-101 Technical Report Mineral Resource Estimate for Castle East, Robinson Zone, Ontario Canada with effective date of May 28, 2020. Mineral resources that are not mineral reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability. Please refer to the Nord Precious Metals Press Release of May 27, 2020, for the resource estimate.

The above resource is now considered an historical resource. This historical resource remains relevant in that there is ongoing drilling to expand the known mineralization associated with that resource. The 2020 mineral resource was estimated in conformity with CIM Estimation of Mineral Resource and Mineral Reserves Best Practices Guidelines and is reported in accordance with Canadian Securities Administrators’ NI-43-101. Insufficient work has been done since to categorize the above historical estimate as current. Significant additional diamond drilling and analytical work along with modelling is required before a new resource estimate can be compiled.

In addition to underground exploration targets, the newly acquired leases host an historical NI 43-101 indicated tailings resource of approximately 1,940,000 tonnes grading 47.5 g/t Ag for approximately 2,960,000 contained ounces of silver at a 10 g/t cut-off (GeoVector Management, 2011, based on 764 drill holes totaling 3,012 metres). Subsequent work has been done indicating potential higher grades. A new technical report is required to compile and include all subsequent work. The historical estimate contained in this news release has not been verified as a current mineral resource. A “qualified person” (as defined in NI 43-101) has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as a current mineral resource, and the Company is not treating the historical estimate as a current mineral resource. The Company considers the historical estimate to be relevant for the proper understanding of the Project; however, significant data compilation, re-drilling, re-sampling, and data verification may be required by a Qualified Person for the historical estimate to be in accordance with NI 43-101 standards and to verify the historical estimate as a current mineral resource. A resource update is currently underway.

Nord’s integrated processing strategy enables multiple metal recovery streams. High-grade silver recovery supports the economics of extracting critical minerals including cobalt, nickel, and other strategic metals. The Re-2Ox hydrometallurgical process, validated at pilot scale through SGS Lakefield, eliminates the typical arsenic barriers in complex silver-cobalt ores while producing technical-grade cobalt sulphate and other metal products to customer specifications. This multi-metal approach, combined with established infrastructure including TTL Laboratories and underground mine access, positions Nord within Ontario’s emerging critical minerals supply chain.

The Company maintains a strategic portfolio of critical minerals properties in Northern Quebec through its 35% ownership in Coniagas Battery Metals Inc. (TSXV: COS), as well as the St. Denis-Sangster lithium project comprising 32 square kilometres of prospective ground near Cochrane, Ontario.

Issued on behalf of Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

On July 21, Nord’s technical team met with Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. The ministry told them exactly what it needs first. Each workstream now has an assigned owner and is in motion. The sequence is set.

COBALT, ON, Aug. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Equity-Insider.com News Commentary – The distance between a fully assembled critical-mineral asset and a producing one is not measured in drill metres or resource ounces. It is measured in permits. Specifically, in the quality of the team advancing the permitting, the clarity of the regulatory pathway, and the discipline with which each workstream is being executed against a defined schedule. On August 5, 2026, Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. reported that it has initiated pre-submission consultation with Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regarding the environmental permissions required for its silver tailings recovery program in the Gowganda Silver Camp. That sentence contains more development progress than it might initially appear. MECP pre-submission consultation is not a formality. It is the meeting at which a company’s technical team sits across from the regulatory staff who will ultimately assess its application, presents its project description and preliminary design, and receives explicit direction on what the ministry needs in order to process a complete submission. Nord had that meeting on July 21. The ministry designated a district contact, outlined two potential approval requirements, and confirmed the consultation framework in writing the following day. Each deliverable has an owner. Each workstream is in motion. The sequence is set.

  • Ministry designated a district contact and confirmed the consultation framework in writing on July 22. The project may require a site-specific Environmental Compliance Approval for sewage works and a Permit to Take Water for processing-related water requirements.
  • Four workstreams now in motion with assigned owners: a concise project description and site maps, available baseline data and anticipated water requirements, a preliminary site water and mass balance, and a geochemical recommendations memorandum.
  • Ontario Regulation 463/24 provides approximately an 80-day review pathway for a complete Recovery Permit application. The first permit under this framework was issued to STLLR Gold’s Hollinger Tailings Project in Timmins in February 2026.
  • An updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Gowganda property is being prepared by GeoVector Management Inc. and expected in the second half of 2026 — the foundational technical document that will anchor the economics study and permit applications that follow.

From Capacity to Capability: What Changed

Six months ago, Nord’s story was primarily about asset assembly. The March 31, 2026 acquisition of four mining leases consolidated the historical silver tailings and the most productive past-producing ground in the Gowganda Camp, complementing TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the historic Cobalt Camp of Ontario. The company had the ground. It had the tailings. It had the processing infrastructure. What it did not yet have was the regulatory channel to convert that capacity into production.

The August 5 press release documents the opening of that channel. A dedicated permit team is now assembled and engaged with both ministries. Specialist consultants cover process engineering, geotechnical and geochemical characterization, updated resource estimation, and government and stakeholder relations. The team engaged with Ontario’s regulators is not generic.

It includes Alex Kuhnert, P.Eng., whose career spans industrial water treatment at Nalco, minerals processing technology at FLSmidth, and technical services at Bureau Veritas, serving as the single accountable coordinator across Nord’s retained consultants and as the point of continuity with both ministries. T Engineering Inc., led by Principal Bernie Ting, P.Eng., is responsible for process and mechanical engineering, including the preliminary process flow sheet presented to MECP at the July 21 session. Okane Consultants, an internationally recognized specialist in mine-waste geochemistry, leads geotechnical and geochemical characterization through senior geochemist Hannah Balkwill Tweedie, M.Sc., P.Geo. And Pathway Group leads government and stakeholder relations through Bill Mauro, a former Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines, and Al MacDermid, a former senior policy advisor in Northern Development and Mines.

“It is not enough to expand capacity; you must expand capability,” stated Frank J. Basa, P.Eng., Chairman and CEO of Nord. “Six months ago we consolidated the ground, the tailings, and the only permitted high-grade mill in the camp. Now we have built the team and opened the regulatory channel to convert that capacity into production: one window at each ministry, one accountable coordinator on our side, and a defined set of studies on a single schedule. The tailings get stabilized, the erosion stops, and the metals pay for the cleanup.”

What the Ministry Said and What It Means

The July 21 MECP meeting was not a preliminary introduction. Nord’s team presented a preliminary process flow sheet and engaged directly with MECP’s technical specialists on project design and anticipated regulatory requirements. The ministry’s response was specific: the project may require a site-specific Environmental Compliance Approval for sewage works and a Permit to Take Water for processing-related water takings. In written follow-up received July 22, MECP confirmed the consultation framework and requested a single consolidated submission covering a project description, site maps, available baseline data, anticipated water requirements, timelines, land information, and Indigenous consultation records.

Each of those deliverables has now been assigned to an owner on Nord’s team. The preliminary site water and mass balance is in preparation by T Engineering. The geochemical recommendations memorandum is in preparation by Okane. A district staff site visit will be scheduled once availability is confirmed. This is not a company describing a plan to begin permitting. It is a company reporting that permitting is underway, that the regulatory authority has engaged, and that the specific deliverables required to advance to a complete application submission have been identified and assigned.

“The Ministry told us what it needs first: a project description, a site plan, a preliminary water balance, and the baseline characterization program. Each workstream has an assigned owner and each is in motion,” said Alex Kuhnert, P.Eng., Owner’s Representative. “The sequencing is the job, and the sequence is set.”

Ontario’s Recovery of Minerals Framework: A Regulatory Tailwind

Ontario Regulation 463/24, in force since July 2025, was designed to solve a specific problem: the province had dozens of historical tailings sites containing recoverable metals and requiring remediation, and no streamlined pathway to permit their recovery. The previous regulatory framework required a full mine closure plan — a document designed for new mine development — to recover minerals from tailings that were already at surface and had been mined a century ago. OR 463/24 replaced that requirement with a Recovery Permit specifically designed for this class of project, with the Ministry of Energy and Mines providing an approximately 80-day review pathway for complete applications.

The proof that the framework works arrived in February 2026, when the first permit under the regime was issued to STLLR Gold’s Hollinger Tailings Project in Timmins — a milestone that the Ontario Minister of Energy and Mines described as delivering on the government’s mission to build mines faster and accelerate permitting to grow the economy. Nord’s planned Mineral Recovery Permit application under OR 463/24 follows the same pathway. The MECP environmental track runs in parallel, and baseline characterization is designed to support submissions to both ministries simultaneously, reducing duplication across permitting processes.

The Processing Model: Low Capital, High Leverage

The technical design of Nord’s tailings recovery program reflects deliberate choices about capital intensity and operational flexibility. The first phase contemplates on-site physical separation of historical silver-cobalt tailings through modular gravity concentration, with flotation retained as an option subject to technical and regulatory review. The output is a silver-bearing mineral concentrate and a cleaned tailings fraction potentially suitable for engineered backfill. The processing installation is contemplated as modular and mobile, with closed-loop water handling, no poured concrete, and the capability for redeployment across the company’s district tailings holdings.

The material was mined approximately a century ago and remains at surface. Its recovery requires no blasting, hoisting, or underground development. The capital intensity of recovering above-ground tailings through a modular gravity circuit is structurally lower than new mine development by a wide margin. The strategic logic is explicit in the press release: subject to successful technical work, demonstrated economics, and receipt of all required approvals, cash flow from tailings recovery is intended to fund district-scale exploration and reduce reliance on repeated equity financing. The tailings recovery program is not the endpoint of Nord’s strategy. It is the funding mechanism for the endpoint — a fully explored, resource-defined, high-grade silver district in one of Canada’s most historically productive precious metals camps.

The Milestone Pathway

Nord’s near-term development calendar is now defined by a specific sequence of milestones, each dependent on the one before it. An updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Gowganda property is being prepared by GeoVector Management Inc. and expected in the second half of 2026. That estimate will provide the technical foundation for a reprocessing economics study. The economics study will anchor the financial case for the project and support the MEM Recovery Permit application. The MECP environmental track runs in parallel, with baseline characterization, the preliminary water and mass balance, and the geochemical memorandum feeding the environmental submissions. A district staff site visit will be scheduled to advance the MECP relationship. And a fully funded 5,000-metre drilling phase is underway at Castle East within the broader planned 30,000-metre program, ensuring that the underground silver exploration program continues advancing in parallel with the surface tailings recovery work.

The Silver and Tailings Recovery Names Investors Are Watching

STLLR Gold Inc. (TSX: STLR) (OTCQX: STLRF) (FSE: O9D)

STLLR Gold is the single most relevant regulatory benchmark for Nord’s tailings recovery program. Its Hollinger Tailings Project in Timmins, Ontario, received the first permit ever issued under Ontario’s Recovery of Minerals regime on February 12, 2026 — the proof-of-concept that the OR 463/24 framework works and that legacy tailings in Ontario’s Northern mining camps can be advanced to regulatory approval under a streamlined pathway. The Hollinger project involves recovering gold from historical tailings in the heart of the Timmins mining camp. Its maiden NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate, filed in January 2026, provided the technical foundation for the permit application, demonstrating exactly the milestone sequence that Nord is now executing: resource estimate, followed by economics, followed by permit application. STLLR’s experience navigating the MEM Recovery Permit process, including the timeline, deliverables, and ministry engagement required, is the closest available template for what Nord’s own application pathway will look like.

Endeavour Silver Corp. (NYSE: EXK) (TSX: EDR) (FSE: EJD)

Endeavour Silver is the commercial destination benchmark for a disciplined silver production story: a Vancouver-based mid-tier producer operating three mines with a production growth trajectory that illustrates what a focused silver company can deliver in the current price environment. In Q2 2026, Endeavour reported production of approximately 1.94 million ounces of silver alongside 10,474 ounces of gold for a total of 3.4 million silver-equivalent ounces, representing more than 30% year-over-year production growth. Revenue climbed 149% year-over-year to $212.1 million and net earnings swung to $66.5 million. Year-to-date production as of June 30 was 3.82 million silver ounces and 22,215 gold ounces. Endeavour is guiding for 8.3 to 8.9 million silver ounces for the full year 2026. Its July 30 corporate presentation described silver mining shares as trading at a premium to gold mining shares due to the scarcity of pure silver producers, and highlighted that mid-tier producers offer a combination of liquidity, leverage, and production growth that larger diversified miners cannot match. Nord’s tailings recovery program, if executed on its stated timeline, would convert the company from a silver explorer into a silver producer — and the valuation difference between those two categories in the current market is exactly what Endeavour’s results illustrate.

Pan American Silver Corp. (TSX: PAAS) (NASDAQ: PAAS)

Pan American Silver is the largest primary silver producer in the Americas and provides the macro benchmark for the silver market conditions against which Nord’s tailings recovery timeline is being advanced. The company operates mines across Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Canada, producing over 20 million silver ounces annually alongside significant gold output. Pan American’s scale and geographic diversification make it the institutional reference point for silver price exposure and the operational template for what disciplined, multi-asset silver production looks like at the commercial stage. Silver’s structural supply deficit — now in its sixth consecutive year according to the Silver Institute — is the macro tailwind that makes both the timing of Nord’s tailings recovery program and the appeal of a permitted, near-term Canadian silver production story as compelling as they are. Pan American’s consistent investor demand demonstrates the depth of institutional appetite for quality silver exposure at scale, and illustrates the valuation premium the market assigns to silver producers relative to explorers.

Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (TSX: AYA) (OTCQX: AYASF)

Aya Gold & Silver provides the most instructive junior-to-producer analogue for what happens to a company’s market profile when it successfully transitions from high-grade silver resource to producing mine with a clear expansion pathway. The company operates the Zgounder Silver Mine in Morocco, which it expanded from approximately 700 tonnes per day to 2,700 tonnes per day, transforming the asset from a marginal producer into a high-margin silver operation. Aya’s 2025 production was approximately 6.4 million silver ounces, with the company targeting continued growth through its ongoing expansion program. The re-rating that Aya experienced as it moved from development through construction to production — and as its silver production scale became credible to institutional investors — is the clearest available illustration of how the market values a junior silver company that successfully closes the gap between historical resource and operating mine. Nord’s modular tailings recovery program, precisely because of its lower capital intensity and faster potential commissioning timeline relative to a new underground mine, offers a shorter version of that gap-closing trajectory. These companies are referenced to illustrate the sector only and do not imply any partnership, endorsement, affiliation, or comparable financial performance.

What to Watch

The updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Gowganda property, expected in the second half of 2026 from GeoVector Management Inc., is the most consequential near-term catalyst. A current, compliant resource estimate replaces the 2020 historical estimate with a document that meets today’s NI 43-101 standards, provides the technical foundation for a reprocessing economics study, and gives institutional investors who require a current resource as a prerequisite for establishing a position the technical basis to engage. The reprocessing economics study that follows will establish whether the recovery program’s financial profile supports the development timeline Nord has outlined.

The MECP permitting workstream is advancing on a parallel track. Each of the four deliverables MECP requested — project description, site maps, baseline data and water requirements, and the preliminary water and mass balance — has been assigned to a team member and is in preparation. The district staff site visit, when scheduled, will be a visible indicator of regulatory momentum. And the Castle East drilling program, with a fully funded 5,000-metre phase underway, continues to build the underground silver resource base that gives the broader Nord story its district-scale optionality alongside the near-term tailings recovery narrative.

For investors tracking the conversion of a fully assembled Cobalt Camp silver position into a producing company, the July 21 MECP meeting and its written follow-up represent the clearest evidence yet that the permitting pathway is real, the regulatory authority is engaged, and the sequence of milestones between today and first silver concentrate production is defined.

With Gowganda leases, historical silver tailings and the Cobalt Camp’s only permitted high-grade mill now consolidated, Nord has assembled the technical and government-relations team advancing the work expected to support future regulatory submissions for the recovery program, including a planned application under Ontario Regulation 463/24

Cobalt, Ontario – TheNewswire – August 5, 2026 — Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. (“Nord” or the “Company”) (TSXV: NTH, OTCQB: NPMMF, FSE: QN3) is pleased to report that it has initiated pre-submission consultation with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (“MECP”) regarding the environmental permissions that may be required for its silver tailings recovery program in the Gowganda Silver Camp, Ontario.

On July 21, 2026, the Company’s technical team met with MECP’s North Bay District Office and Northern Region Technical Support Section to review project information and identify the materials expected to support future environmental submissions alongside the Company’s planned Mineral Recovery Permit application under Ontario Regulation 463/24 (Part VII of the Mining Act).

The engagement advances the Company’s build-out. Over the past six months, Nord expanded capacity: the March 31, 2026 acquisition of four mining leases consolidated the historical silver tailings and the most productive past-producing ground in the Gowganda Camp, complementing TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the historic Cobalt Camp. Capacity alone does not produce ounces. The Company has therefore expanded capability in step: a dedicated permit team, specialist consultants, and defined contacts and workstreams with Ontario’s regulators.

Management Commentary

“It is not enough to expand capacity; you must expand capability,” stated Frank J. Basa, P.Eng., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nord.

From Capacity to Capability: Team, Permitting Pathway, and Work Program

The expanded capability is embodied in the team engaged with the ministries:

  • Frank J. Basa, P.Eng., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, provides metallurgical and Qualified Person oversight of the program.

  • Alex Kuhnert, P.Eng., Owner’s Representative (President, ERNESCO Technical Advisory Services Inc.), is the single accountable coordinator of Nord’s retained consultants and the Company’s point of continuity with both ministries. His career spans industrial water treatment with Nalco, minerals processing technology with FLSmidth, and technical services with Bureau Veritas.

  • T Engineering Inc. (retained April 8, 2026), led on the file by Principal Bernie Ting, P.Eng., is responsible for process and mechanical engineering, including the preliminary process flow sheet presented to MECP at the July 21 session and the preliminary site water and mass balance now in preparation.

  • Okane Consultants, an internationally recognized specialist in mine-waste geochemistry and geotechnical services, leads geotechnical and geochemical characterization, including metal leaching/acid rock drainage (“ML/ARD”) assessment, through senior geochemist Hannah Balkwill Tweedie, M.Sc., P.Geo.

  • GeoVector Management Inc. is preparing the updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Gowganda property.

  • Pathway Group leads government and stakeholder relations through Bill Mauro, a former Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, and Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Al MacDermid, a former senior policy advisor in Northern Development and Mines, coordinating the Company’s engagement across both ministries.

Ontario’s Recovery of Minerals regime under Ontario Regulation 463/24, in force since July 2025, was established to streamline and accelerate the recovery of minerals from historical tailings while advancing the remediation of legacy mine sites. As previously reported by the Company, the Ontario Ministry of Energy and Mines (“MEM”) has provided an advanced application template and outlined an approximately 80-day review pathway for a complete Recovery Permit application, and the first permit under the framework was issued in February 2026 to STLLR Gold Inc.’s Hollinger Tailings Project in Timmins. The environmental track runs in parallel: at the July 21 session, MECP designated a district contact to coordinate its technical specialists and advised that, depending on final design, the project may require a site-specific Environmental Compliance Approval for sewage works and a Permit to Take Water for processing-related water takings. Baseline characterization is intended to support submissions to both ministries and reduce duplication across permitting processes, while records of consultation with Indigenous communities will form part of the Company’s submissions.

In written follow-up received July 22, 2026, MECP confirmed the consultation framework and requested a single consolidated submission covering a concise project description, site maps, available baseline data, anticipated water requirements, timelines, land information and Indigenous consultation. The Company’s package will include the preliminary site water and mass balance and the geochemical recommendations memorandum now in preparation, and a district staff site visit will be scheduled once availability is confirmed.

The first phase contemplates on-site physical separation of historical silver-cobalt tailings through modular gravity concentration, with flotation retained as an option subject to technical and regulatory review, producing a silver-bearing mineral concentrate and a cleaned tailings fraction potentially suitable for engineered backfill while maximizing process-water recycling. The material was mined approximately a century ago and remains at surface; its recovery requires no blasting, hoisting or underground development. The processing installation is contemplated as modular and mobile, with closed-loop water handling, no poured concrete and the capability for redeployment across the Company’s district tailings holdings. Over the longer term, the Company may evaluate third-party tailings sources, with any such opportunity subject to land access, commercial arrangements, permit scope and all required environmental approvals. Subsequent downstream metals recovery is contemplated under a separate corporate and commercial structure and is being advanced separately.

Near-Term Silver Production to Unlock District-Scale Value

The tailings recovery program anchors the Company’s strategy of advancing near-term silver production to unlock district-scale value, on a defined milestone pathway: an updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate for the Gowganda property, being prepared by GeoVector Management Inc. and expected in the second half of 2026; reprocessing economics; permitting; commissioning of the modular recovery circuit; and evaluation of repeat deployment. Recovery from above-ground tailings offers a lower-capital, lower-risk route to first production than new mine development. Subject to successful technical work, demonstrated economics and receipt of all required approvals, cash flow from tailings recovery is intended to fund district-scale exploration and reduce reliance on repeated equity financing. A fully funded 5,000-metre phase is underway at Castle East within the broader planned 30,000-metre program, alongside the systematic advancement of the Company’s previously reported gold occurrences and exploration targets across Castle–Gowganda (see the Company’s July 13, 2026 news release).

Any previously reported figures for the Gowganda tailings constitute historical estimates only. A qualified person (as defined in NI 43-101) has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimates as current mineral resources, and the Company is not treating them as current mineral resources.

Cautionary Note

The Company’s Mineral Recovery Permit application under Ontario Regulation 463/24 remains a future step, and its scope, timing, and approval are subject to regulatory processes and to the completion of the supporting technical work. Pre-submission consultation with MECP, the assignment of a ministry contact, and a proposed site visit do not constitute approval of any application by any ministry. The approximately 80-day pathway previously described by MEM relates to the review of a complete Recovery Permit application and does not govern separate MECP approvals. No assurance can be given that any permit or approval will be obtained on any particular timeline, or at all.

Qualified Person

The scientific and technical information in this news release was reviewed and approved by Mr. Frank J. Basa, P.Eng. (PEO), director of Nord Precious Metals, a Qualified Person in accordance with National Instrument 43-101.

The Company’s 63 sq. km flagship Castle property, including 225 hectares of leases, hosts three of the five most productive past-producing silver mines in the Gowganda Camp (Siscoe-O’Brien, Castle and Millerett) along with the Castle East discovery.

Qualified Person

The technical information in this news release was approved and prepared under the supervision of Mr. Frank J. Basa, P.Eng. (PEO), director of Nord Precious Metals, a qualified person in accordance with National Instrument 43-101.

About Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. operates TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the historic Cobalt Camp of Ontario, where the Company has established an integrated position connecting high-grade silver discovery with strategic metals recovery operations.

In addition to underground exploration targets, the newly acquired leases host an historical NI 43-101 indicated tailings resource of approximately 1,940,000 tonnes grading 47.5 g/t Ag for approximately 2,960,000 contained ounces of silver at a 10 g/t cut-off (GeoVector Management, 2011, based on 764 drill holes totalling 3,012 metres).

About Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc.

Nord Precious Metals Mining Inc. is a Canadian silver developer operating in one of North America’s most storied mining districts — the historic Cobalt-Gowganda Silver Camp of northern Ontario. The company holds the Castle Mine property near Gowganda, which has already produced 9.5 million ounces of silver historically, as well as the Beaver Mine near the town of Cobalt. What sets Nord apart from most junior explorers is what it owns alongside its mineral ground: TTL Laboratories, the only permitted high-grade milling facility in the entire Cobalt Camp. That processing infrastructure is a genuine and hard-to-replicate strategic advantage in a district full of historic silver deposits that have no practical way to process their ore.

Nord is pursuing a dual-track strategy — active underground drilling at the Castle East discovery, where historical intercepts include values exceeding 89,000 g/t silver, while simultaneously advancing toward near-term revenue through the reprocessing of legacy silver-cobalt tailings left behind by a century of past mining. In January 2026, the company expanded its land package by acquiring four additional mining leases in the Gowganda Silver Camp from Battery Mineral Resources, adding an estimated 2.9 million ounces to its historic tailings resource and consolidating control over the most productive ground in the district. The acquisition closed March 31, 2026.

Drilling Program and High-Grade Results

Nord launched a 30,000-metre drill campaign at Castle East in December 2025, one of the most ambitious programs in the district in recent years. The campaign is designed to expand the existing historical resource — which includes a 2020 estimate of 7.56 million ounces of silver in Inferred resources at Castle East — and to establish the underground geometry needed to plan ramp access and a bulk sample for processing at TTL. By February 2026, over 2,100 metres of Phase 1 had been completed, with three holes returning silver-cobalt mineralization consistent with the multi-vein architecture modeled in the company’s 2025 3D geological reinterpretation.

The geological model underpinning the drill program is based on a comprehensive reinterpretation of over 75,000 metres of historical drilling data, identifying 29 discrete vein structures across the Castle East dataset. Prior campaigns at the property produced some of the highest-grade intercepts in the Cobalt Camp in recent memory, including values of 19,308 g/t and 89,853 g/t silver — numbers that reflect the exceptional bonanza-grade nature of Cobalt-style native silver veins. The tailings reprocessing angle is what makes Nord genuinely different from a standard silver exploration story. The Cobalt-Gowganda district contains dozens of orphaned tailings deposits from over a century of past operations, many of which still carry economically meaningful silver grades. Nord’s own test work has produced striking results — one tailings pile returned concentrations of 786,809 g/t silver and 79 g/t gold in sampling, reflecting the extraordinary richness that characterizes historic Cobalt Camp mineralization. The company’s proprietary Re-2Ox hydrometallurgical process is designed to recover technical-grade cobalt sulfate and nickel-manganese-cobalt formulations alongside silver, creating a multi-metal recovery stream from material that currently sits as an environmental liability.

The regulatory pathway is in place. Ontario’s mineral recovery permit framework provides a faster-track approval process than a full mine permit, and Nord has been working directly with Ministry staff on an expedited timeline. With T Engineering now retained to advance the technical work and the Gowganda acquisition closed, the company has the land, the processing facility, the engineering support, and the regulatory momentum to make tailings reprocessing a reality in 2026. That creates a scenario relatively unusual in junior mining: an explorer with active high-grade drilling catalysts and a near-term path to generating its own revenue.
