Starfighters Space and Blackstar Orbital Expand Technical Interchange

Broader scope covers integration, simulation, telemetry, safety planning and range coordination for Blackstar’s SpaceDrone on Starfighters’ F-104 platform

WASHINGTON D.C – March 26, 2026 – Starfighters Space, Inc. (“Starfighters” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: FJET), the innovative aerospace company, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of commercial supersonic aircraft, announced today during the 41st Space Symposium an expanded technical interchange with Blackstar Orbital, a company pioneering advanced Return-to-Earth satellites, to support the development, integration planning, and flight test preparation of next-generation reusable space systems.

Broader Technical Scope for Integration and Flight Readiness

The companies’ Technical Interchange Agreement outlines a work program that extends beyond initial vehicle integration planning. In addition to integrating Blackstar’s SpaceDrone BX-02C.2 test article with the Starfighters F-104 platform, the scope includes vehicle physical characterization, carriage and release simulations, wind tunnel testing, mock-up validation, interface hardware planning, payload handling procedures, telemetry and data requirements, and drop-test and recovery planning.

Blackstar Orbital is developing a lifting-body “SpaceDrone,” designed to operate as a reusable, hypersonic satellite that can launch as a payload and return to Earth like a spaceplane. The current technical interchange is intended to determine whether the vehicle can be safely and effectively integrated, carried, and deployed from the Starfighters F-104 platform.

Integration Hardware and Program Development

Starfighters’ responsibilities under the work program include lug configuration and adapter design considerations, flight procedures, standard flight safety cards, aircraft interface constraints, operational limitations, CAD support, and preliminary costing for FAA, NASA, and range approvals. The parties are also jointly addressing frequency control, data systems, flight control systems, RF communications, ground safety planning, range requirements, range services coordination, and compliance with Space Florida requirements.

Starfighters has also provided hardware to support the next phase of interface work, including a BL-75 complete assembly, counterbalance, sway braces, and a jettison piston transferred to Blackstar at the Shuttle Landing Facility. The technical interchange is structured as an iterative process, and any expansion from feasibility determination and planning into flight testing or other operational activities would be subject to a separate written agreement between the parties.

Building Toward Operational Flight Services

“This collaboration now covers a broader technical work program than vehicle integration alone,” said Tim Franta, CEO of Starfighters Space. “The scope includes interface engineering, safety and range planning, data and telemetry coordination, and transferred hardware to support the next phase of evaluation. That stepwise approach is how Starfighters helps customers move from concept toward flight readiness.”

“The expanded technical interchange gives Blackstar a structured path to validate vehicle interfaces, operational conditions, data requirements, and release planning with Starfighters’ F-104 platform,” said Christopher Jannette, CEO of Blackstar Orbital. “It strengthens the engineering foundation for future flight services as we advance the SpaceDrone program.”

The Technical Interchange Agreement establishes an iterative framework for ongoing collaboration, with both companies expecting the relationship to evolve into a broader flight services engagement as the program advances through feasibility, integration, and future operational phases.

Collaboration supports NASA, academic and commercial research missions

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Starfighters Space, Inc. (“Starfighters” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: FJET), the innovative aerospace company, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of commercial supersonic aircraft, today announced a strategic partnership with Mu-G Technologies, LLC (“Mu-GTech”) to pursue microgravity flight missions for NASA, academic institutions and commercial research customers across the United States and Canada. The collaboration combines Starfighters’ high-performance flight operations and aircraft capabilities with Mu-GTech’s expertise in parabolic flight execution, monitoring systems, and payload integration. Together, the companies intend to expand access to reduced-gravity testing environments amid increasing demand from government and commercial space programs.

The partnership follows a recent NASA Flight Opportunities “Sources Sought” notice seeking potential providers of parabolic flight services to support technology development in reduced gravity. Starfighters and Mu-GTech are jointly responding to this notice while also evaluating broader commercial opportunities beyond government-sponsored missions.

Expanding Mission Capabilities Across the Fleet

The microgravity initiative expands Starfighters’ broader strategy of leveraging its high-performance aircraft fleet across multiple mission categories, including air launch to space, hypersonic testing, advanced research support and specialized flight services. By expanding into microgravity operations, the Company aims to diversify fleet utilization while serving high-demand aerospace, defense, and space technology markets.

Executive Commentary:

“This partnership reflects our commitment to expanding the ways we deploy our high-performance aircraft to serve growing aerospace and space technology markets,” said Tim Franta, Chief Executive Officer of Starfighters. “By combining our operational capabilities with Mu-GTech’s parabolic flight expertise, we are positioning Starfighters to support increased demand for reliable microgravity testing. We are equally focused on delivering strong ‘return on science’ for researchers – ensuring that flight profiles, duration and environmental quality are optimized to meet the evolving needs of our government, academic and commercial customers.”

Robert Ward, Founder of Mu-G Technologies, added, “By integrating Mu-GTech’s flight control and monitoring systems with Starfighters’ aircraft performance envelope, we have the opportunity to evaluate new approaches to delivering high-quality reduced-gravity environments. This capability can provide longer-duration parabolas for reduced-gravity research than have traditionally been available, further advancing the nation’s space research capabilities. We look forward to advancing this capability in support of NASA and the broader research community.”

Building a Dual-Track Microgravity Capability

As part of its expansion into microgravity flight services, Starfighters is developing a dual-track operational approach in collaboration with Mu-GTech, designed to support near-term customer missions while evaluating long-term scalability:

Dedicated Microgravity Aircraft: Acquisition and operation of an aircraft optimized specifically for parabolic flight missions. Under this model, Starfighters would oversee flight operations while Mu-GTech would manage customer engagement and payload integration.
F-104-Based Microgravity Profile: Integration of Mu-GTech’s proprietary monitoring systems and software into Starfighters’ Lockheed F-104 aircraft to evaluate whether the platform’s high-speed and high-altitude performance can extend microgravity duration and improve flight quality.
The companies intend to conduct flight validation and data collection to assess operational performance, research quality metrics and commercial scalability.

Understanding Microgravity Flight

Microgravity conditions are created during precisely controlled parabolic flight maneuvers in which an aircraft follows a specialized arc trajectory, producing brief periods of weightlessness inside the cabin. Each parabola typically generates approximately 20–25 seconds of reduced gravity, allowing researchers to test space-bound technologies, materials, biological experiments and instrumentation in a real-world environment prior to orbital deployment. Enhanced speed and altitude performance of the F-104 aircraft will improve the duration and consistency of these reduced-gravity periods, which could be valuable for certain advanced research applications.

Starfighters Space and GE Aerospace undergo critical design review of STARLAUNCH I

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla – February 20, 2026 – Starfighters Space, Inc. (“Starfighters” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: FJET), the aerospace company, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of commercial supersonic aircraft, announced today that, after successful wind tunnel testing of the STARLAUNCH I rocket design, it is moving forward to Critical Design Review (“CDR”) with support from GE Aerospace. The CDR is intended to confirm design maturity and support the program’s transition into its next phase of build and test planning.

Key Takeaways

  • Starfighters and GE Aerospace are undergoing a Critical Design Review for STARLAUNCH 1 in the next two weeks of its demonstrator vehicle.
  • The review builds on STARLAUNCH 1 wind tunnel testing that validated clean separation from Starfighters’ aircraft platform.
  • The Company continues its stepwise program execution toward its goal of launching payloads to space.

The planned review follows Starfighters’ recently announced completion of subsonic and supersonic wind tunnel testing for STARLAUNCH 1, which demonstrated clean separation behavior across tested flight conditions and correlated well with the Company’s computational models. Starfighters has also initiated procurement of instrumented demonstrator vehicle to be flown underwing to further evaluate separation dynamics under flight conditions.

In aerospace development, a CDR is a structured program milestone used to provide a detailed, integrated review of a system’s design before proceeding into full-scale fabrication, integration, and formal test execution. A typical CDR process reviews the design baseline, interfaces, verification plans, and key risks, and provides management and engineering leadership with a basis to authorize the next stage of program execution.

Starfighters expects the STARLAUNCH 1 CDR to evaluate design documentation and analysis for the vehicle and its interfaces with the carrier aircraft, with a focus on configuration control, manufacturability, and test readiness. The review is also expected to address verification plans, including the sequence from ground validation through drop testing and subsequent flight evaluation.

GE Aerospace has supported Starfighters’ STARLAUNCH development through prior engineering work and flight test activities, and the Company plans to leverage GE Aerospace participation in the upcoming review to strengthen program discipline and accelerate risk reduction.

“We execute STARLAUNCH as a series of practical, documented steps to space,” said Tim Franta, Director and VP Development at Starfighters. “A critical design review is where we confirm that the design is ready for the next phase. Our team is dedicated and focused on the mission, and we are staying disciplined as we progress STARLAUNCH 1.”

STARLAUNCH 1 is being developed as a sub-orbital vehicle designed to support short-duration microgravity missions and serves as a pathfinder for future air-launched concepts. In parallel, Starfighters’ validated separation work supports its broader aerospace testing services, including programs where clean separation is required for advanced and hypersonic vehicle testing.

Subsonic and supersonic testing validates clean separation from the aircraft

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla – [January 21, 2026] – Starfighters Space, Inc. (“Starfighters” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: FJET), the innovative aerospace company, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of commercial supersonic aircraft, today announced the successful completion of wind tunnel testing for STARLAUNCH 1, a key technical milestone in the Company’s air-launched rocket development efforts.

The completed test campaign evaluated separation of the STARLAUNCH 1 vehicle from the Starfighters’ aircraft platform across both subsonic and supersonic conditions. Using a combination of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and experimental wind tunnel testing, the Company assessed separation behavior at Mach 0.85 and Mach 1.3. Across all test conditions, clean separation was demonstrated with no adverse aerodynamic interactions observed.

“Demonstrating clean, predictable separation across these flight regimes is a foundational requirement for an air-launched system,” said Rick Svetkoff, Chief Executive Officer of Starfighters. “The close alignment between our simulations and the wind tunnel results gives us confidence in the underlying design and allows us to proceed methodically to the next phase of testing.”

The wind tunnel campaign consisted of ten successful runs, conducted at both subsonic and supersonic speeds. Experimental results showed strong agreement between CFD predictions and measured forces and moments, confirming the accuracy of Starfighters’ aerodynamic models and separation simulations.

Testing was conducted at the FAMU/FSU Joint College of Engineering Polysonic Wind Tunnel. The correlation between simulation and experimental data represents an important risk-reduction step as the program transitions from analytical validation toward physical test articles.

Based on the completed testing, Starfighters has initiated the next procedural step in the program by moving forward with the procurement of instrumented drop test articles. These articles are intended to support further evaluation of separation dynamics under flight conditions and will incorporate onboard sensors and telemetry systems.

STARLAUNCH 1 is being developed as a sub-orbital vehicle designed to support short-duration microgravity missions and serves as a pathfinder for future air-launched concepts. In parallel, the validated separation work also supports Starfighters’ broader aerospace testing services, including programs where clean separation is required for advanced and hypersonic vehicle testing.

Recent supersonic test flights carrying advanced propulsion systems validate Starfighters’ role as a commercial flight services platform for aerospace and defense customers

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla – January 5, 2026 – Starfighters Space, Inc. (“Starfighters” or the “Company”) (NYSE American: FJET), the innovative aerospace company, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of commercial supersonic aircraft, announced today that it recently completed a successful supersonic flight test campaign for GE Aerospace, in which a Starfighters aircraft carried and flew an advanced propulsion test vehicle multiple times at supersonic speeds. This successfully completed campaign highlights Starfighters’ rapidly growing relevance as a publicly listed provider of commercially available flight test services.

As part of GE Aerospace’s Atmospheric Test of Launched Air-breathing System (ATLAS) program, a Starfighters F-104 aircraft was used to conduct three (3) successful supersonic captive carry flights from Kennedy Space Center. During the campaign, the ATLAS flight test vehicle achieved supersonic speeds, supporting the advancement of solid fuel ramjet (SFRJ) propulsion technology.

Starfighters believes its fleet of F-104s is the only such fleet in the free world that can fly test payloads that are mounted underwing at speeds greater than MACH 2, or greater than 1,500 miles per hour.

Led by GE Aerospace, the flights demonstrated Starfighters’ ability to deliver commercially available, rapidly repeatable supersonic flight services in support of customer-funded aerospace and defense development programs.

“For customers developing next-generation propulsion and aerospace systems, access to flight-proven supersonic platforms is essential,” said Rick Svetkoff, CEO of Starfighters Space. “These missions not only validate our business model, but also demonstrate the advanced capabilities of our aircraft, our flight operations team, and our ability to support complex test campaigns through contracted flight services.”

“The Starfighters team provided a reliable, flight-ready supersonic platform that enabled us to conduct multiple captive carry flights in realistic atmospheric conditions,” said Mark Rettig, Vice President and General Manager of Edison Works Business & Technology Development at GE Aerospace. “Commercially operated test aircraft like Starfighters play an important role in accelerating development timelines by allowing repeatable, flexible flight testing outside of traditional range constraints.”

Commercial Relevance and Path to Revenue

The ATLAS campaign reflects a broader demand environment in which aerospace and defense developers increasingly require faster, more flexible access to flight testing outside of traditional government ranges and long-lead launch schedules. Starfighters’ business model is designed to address this need by providing mission-specific supersonic flight services under customer agreements, rather than pursuing speculative technology development.

Each completed test campaign strengthens the Company’s track record, supports aircraft utilization, and positions Starfighters for follow-on programs, repeat customers, and expanded mission scope across propulsion testing, systems validation, training, and space-adjacent applications.

The ATLAS program is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense under Title III of the Defense Production Act and is intended to advance air-breathing propulsion technologies capable of enhanced speed, range, and responsiveness.

CEO tells Investing.com about strategy, growth plans

Published:12/18/2025

Investing.com — Shares of Starfighters Space, a Kennedy Space Center company that operates a fleet of commercially flight-ready MACH2 supersonic aircraft, are set to begin trading on the NYSE American, an exchange for small- and mid-cap high-growth companies, on Thursday under the ticker FJET.

In an exclusive interview with Investing.com, Rick Svetkoff, CEO and Founder of Starfighters and former U.S. Navy pilot, shares with investors some of the recent developments at the company leading to the IPO. More precisely, Svetkoff discusses what investors can expect as the company enters its next stage of expanding capabilities.

The listing follows the company’s IPO to raise $40 million and is the first instance of a space company using the Regulation A route to an IPO. Regulation A provides smaller companies access to public capital markets through a less extensive process than a registered offering.

Starfighters’ listing comes amid heightened investor interest in space/defense technologies as Trump 2.0 and other geopolitical developments are seen as supportive for the sector. As governments ramp up space exploration programs as well as defense spending, companies across the spectrum expect to benefit from growing demand.

Tell us a little about Starfighters and why it is going public. Why now? And what went into the decision to go from Regulation A to an IPO?

Rick Svetkoff: Starfighters is an aerospace company focused on providing faster, more flexible access for space, defense, and advanced aerospace missions using flight-ready supersonic aircraft. We’re an operating company with real assets, real missions, and a long history of aviation execution.

Going public is a natural next step. Regulation A allowed us to build the business, validate demand, and broaden our investor base early. Moving from Regulation A to a traditional IPO reflects increased maturity, governance, and scale, and positions us to access larger pools of capital as opportunities expand.

The timing reflects a convergence: growing government and commercial demand, renewed focus on space and defense readiness, and increased investor interest in companies with tangible capabilities rather than long-dated concepts.

To what extent will capital raised from the IPO be directed toward advancing opportunities within the MACH-TB program? And what are the biggest technical or regulatory risks that could alter your 2026 revenue targets?

Rick Svetkoff: The proceeds are intended to support fleet expansion, infrastructure, and the development of new mission capabilities, including participation in programs like MACH-TB.

MACH-TB (Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonics Test Bed) is a U.S. Department of Defense program designed to provide faster, lower-cost flight testing for hypersonic technologies by using modular systems and commercial launch capabilities.

As with any advanced aerospace or defense-related work, timelines are influenced by technical validation, testing requirements, and regulatory approvals. That includes aviation certification, launch waivers, and program-specific milestones. These are well understood risks in our sector and are outlined in our public filings.

We’ve structured the company to remain disciplined and flexible, continuing to generate revenue from existing services while developing new capabilities in parallel.

What do investors need to know about the space technologies developed and employed at Starfighters and their potential across sectors/defense?

Rick Svetkoff: Starfighters’ value lies in how we operate, not just what we’re developing. Our platform enables rapid testing, training, and space-adjacent missions that benefit defense, research institutions, and commercial partners.

The same capabilities that support space access also apply to hypersonic testing, advanced aerospace R&D, and national security applications. This multi-use potential allows us to serve a broad customer base rather than relying on a single market or program.

For investors, that diversification matters: it reduces dependency on any one outcome while preserving upside as new applications mature.

Investors should understand that not all space companies are competing for the same missions. Starfighters is focused on the smaller-payload, high-speed, high-altitude segment, where flexibility and rapid access matter most.

Traditional launch providers are optimized for large, scheduled missions, while Starfighters provides a more responsive, on-demand platform for testing, evaluation, and future launch applications. This complementary positioning allows Starfighters to address missions that existing systems do not serve efficiently.

What expansion plans does the company have over the near to medium term? And what can investors expect in terms of earnings growth, given the company’s significant R&D plans? What does near- and long-term revenue visibility look like?

Rick Svetkoff: Near-term, the focus is on scaling operations, expanding fleet availability, increasing mission cadence, and adding talent and infrastructure where demand supports it. Medium-term, we aim to broaden the mix of services we offer, including advanced testing and space-access capabilities.

As an R&D-intensive company, we expect continued investment before profitability. That said, Starfighters has historically generated revenue from operational services and intends to build on that foundation as new capabilities come online.

As a public company, investors will gain visibility into revenue, expenses, and progress through regular SEC reporting.

What are your expectations from the MACH-TB program? Can you discuss any partnerships and sub-contracts, and what this might mean for the company going forward?

Rick Svetkoff: MACH-TB (Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonic Test Bed) is a U.S. Department of Defense program that uses commercial rockets and reusable test vehicles, such as Starfighters’ F-104 fleet, to rapidly and affordably test new hypersonic technologies (speeds > Mach 5) for advanced weapons and defense systems, overcoming previous slow, expensive test infrastructure limitations by leveraging private sector innovation for frequent flights.

Because Starfighters is aircraft-based and uses the F-104 as a test platform “wind tunnel in the sky,” makes it ideal for the MACH TB program. Kratos Defense and Security Solutions was awarded the prime contract, and Starfighters is a subcontractor to Kratos.

For investors, the key takeaway is that these programs can serve as both a revenue opportunity and a credibility accelerator, but we approach them with disciplined expectations rather than assuming any single program defines the company’s future.

The Company is a Flying Testbed for the Development of Next-Gen Hypersonic Technology

Rick Svetkoff’s flight path has taken him from being a navy pilot to an aviation entrepreneur. More recently, he became an aerospace innovator as the founder and CEO of Starfighters Space.

The company operates a private fleet of F-104 and F-4 aircraft, enabling them to do R&D for the commercial and defense industries. It also provides pilot and spaceflight training.

The goal is to deliver small payloads into space and become “a flying testbed for the development of next generation hypersonic technology,” Svetkoff told inter-TECH-ion.

Currently, the global space economy is estimated to be worth about $400 billion, with 71% of that representing the satellite industry. Frost and Sullivan estimate the demand for small satellite launches to exceed $69 billion by 2030.

Starfighters Space does not compete with billion-dollar companies like Space X and Blue Origin. The company complements them, focusing on a market segment they don’t address.

Rick Svetkoff, entrepreneur and former navy fighter pilot

Foundation

Svetkoff was a military fighter pilot before flying large jets for Continental Airlines. Shortly after joining the airline, he purchased an F-104 Starfighter jet and began flying at air shows. Once he acquired three of these jets, he created the Starfighters Demonstration Team. He envisioned his F-104 fleet becoming the core of a small, “fast-reacting” aerospace company designed for wide-ranging missions.

His vision ultimately became reality.

Svetkoff was invited to the Kennedy Space Center in 2007 and has made it the Starfighters Team’s home since then. Over the years, he became more deeply integrated into the Kennedy Space Center and witnessed the commercialization of space taking place there.

Eventually, he realized he had a “key component” of a piloted space-delivery platform already in his hands — a Mach 2+ capable, space-delivery program. In 2015, he began an experimental project to evolve Starfighters into Starfighters Space.

He eventually brought on Tim Franta, who serves as VP, Development. One of his prior accomplishments was being a liaison to the space industry, NASA and the Air Force. He also served in Florida’s Legislature and was a chief of staff for Florida’s Space Authority. With the authority, he helped craft the Florida Space Transportation Act, managed two launch pads, and helped get more than $300 million in space and ground infrastructure funds.

Inventory & Expansion Plans

Starfighters Space now operates a large commercial fleet of piloted Mach 2+ capable supersonic aircrafts. It’s developing the capability to launch payloads into space “without the need for large, costly first-stage rockets,” Svetkoff said.

Starfighters Space’s hangar is at the end of the famous Shuttle Landing Facility, Runway 33, one of the longest runways in the world.

Recently the company announced it’s planning a second location at the growing Midland International Air & Space Port in Texas, where a new hangar, and supporting facilities, to house the company’s growing fleet recently was approved.

The plans call for Starfighters Space to relocate approximately $78 million of its capital assets and equipment to the space port by 2027, according to a press release. The company also plans to expand its footprint at the Kennedy Space Center.

Financing

Svetkoff originally bootstrapped the company. After that, Space Florida — the quasi-governmental agency responsible for commercializing the Kennedy Space Center – provided a loan to Starfighters Space, enabling Svetkoff to expand his team and begin development.

In 2022, the company received its first investment in a round led by Fortuna Investments.

Starfighters Space recently launched a Reg A fundraising round, which offers individual investors an opportunity to invest — an opportunity typically reserved for elite funds and high net worth investors.

So far, this fundraising endeavor has raised $18.6 million out of a $35 million goal.

Funds are being used to expand the company’s development programs, with the goal of completing its first commercial launch before the end of this year. Once that happens, the company can provide small payload launch resources to government, academic and commercial entities.

Exit Strategy

The company’s’ C-level team is tentatively planning an IPO for mid-2025, so it can raise additional capital to fund its growth, Svetkoff said.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., March 26, 2025 — Starfighters Space, Inc (“Starfighters” or “the Company”), the innovative aerospace company operating the world’s largest commercial supersonic aircraft fleet out of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, announces the addition of seasoned military and commercial pilot Michael “Smitty” Smith as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Smith’s 30 plus years of professional experience aligns with Starfighters’ focus on future flight test programs, hypersonic initiatives, space launch operations, and collaborations with defense and commercial partners. Mr. Smith was type rated by the FAA in the F-104 in 2007 as a Starfighters company pilot and, in his new role, will guide daily operations while helping to expand Company partnerships.

Starfighters’ CEO, Rick Svetkoff, said, “With the national focus on both hypersonic research and rapid satellite launch capability, Starfighters is in a unique position to engage on both of these fronts. We believe Smitty’s expertise and strong leadership will only strengthen our ability to meet operational goals and deepen key relationships, while delivering greater results for our customers and shareholders alike.”

Smitty’s expertise spans aerospace operations, strategic leadership, and defense contracting, with key roles in post-9/11 homeland defense. Smitty is a graduate of Texas A&M University, as well as remote graduate of the United States Air Force (USAF) Air Command and Staff College, and has served in multiple fleet F-14 squadrons. Post Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) assignment as an Instructor Pilot (IP) and Tomcat Demonstration pilot, he was granted an inner-service transfer to the USAF and completed his service in the TXANG in 111FS flying the F-16. After retiring from the USAF, Smitty worked as a pilot and Captain for Southwest Airlines.

Mr. Smith has logged over 15,000 flight hours, completed missions in multiple theaters, and handled critical duties in homeland defense operations. This includes 132 hours of combat time over Iraq and Bosnia. He excelled in flight school and served as an instructor on the F-14 Tomcat.

GE Innoveering Completes Test Article’s External Surface Engineering

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., March 4, 2025 — Starfighters Space, Inc (“Starfighters” or the “Company”), the innovative aerospace company operating the world’s only commercial fleet of flight-ready Lockheed F-104 Starfighter supersonic aircraft, flying out of Kennedy Space Center, announces that GE Aerospace’s Innoveering division completed external surface engineering of the Company’s StarLaunch test article. With the completion of this engineering step, Starfighters now moves on to its simulation testing.

Tim Franta, Vice President of Development at Starfighters, commented, “We are pleased to have completed this step and remain on track for flight testing this summer. The collaboration with GE Innoveering supports our commitment to achieving key technical benchmarks on schedule.”

Engineering of the StarLaunch test article’s external surfaces outer mold line or “OML” refers to the outermost surface of a component, representing the visible exterior of a rocket or spacecraft, essentially the “skin” of the vehicle. It is the primary reference point for designing and shaping the external components of a craft, including the flight control surfaces.

The surface design is critical to StarLaunch’s operational performance. GE Innoveering, widely known for its work in high-speed gas dynamics and propulsion systems, has applied its engineering expertise to develop a system that meets Starfighters’ performance requirements. The completion of this phase allows for digital simulations to assess system response and readiness before proceeding to physical manufacturing.

Again, simulation testing of the StarLaunch design can now begin, providing insights into aerodynamics, stability, and control in simulated flight environments. These tests will validate the engineering approach before manufacturing, ensuring efficient integration with Starfighters’ existing systems.

Starfighters is currently undertaking a Regulation A Tier 2 offering hosted with Equifund (https://equifund.com), a private market investment platform that delivers vetted, early stage investing opportunities, and being offered by Digital Offering, LLC, a SEC registered broker-dealer, and member of FINRA and SIPC. About Starfighters Space, Inc.

Starfighters Space, Inc. is a Cape Canaveral-based aerospace company with a genuinely unique asset: the world’s only commercial fleet of supersonic aircraft capable of sustained Mach 2+ flight. Operating seven modified Lockheed F-104 Starfighters from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, the company is the only commercial entity on earth that can fly payloads at twice the speed of sound — and eventually launch them to space. Founded by former U.S. Navy pilot Rick Svetkoff in 1996 and incorporated in 2022, Starfighters went public on the NYSE American in December 2025, raising approximately $40 million to fund operations and its air-launch development program.

The company currently earns revenue by contracting its supersonic fleet for hypersonic research, aerospace testing, and pilot training — with customers including GE Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. Its longer-term play is STARLAUNCH: a program that would use the F-104 fleet as a reusable first stage to lift small satellites and payloads to sub-orbital and eventually orbital altitudes. Recent months have brought a wave of technical milestones and new partnerships, positioning Starfighters as one of the more unconventional but genuinely differentiated names in the commercial space sector.

Overview

Starfighters is building a two-track business: a near-term contracted flight services operation that generates revenue today from hypersonic testing and aerospace R&D, and a longer-term air-launch platform that would make the company a cost-competitive provider of small satellite delivery to space. The idea is to use what the company already has — a proven, flight-ready supersonic fleet — as the first stage of a launch system, rather than building expensive new hardware from scratch. That gives Starfighters a fundamentally lower-cost development path than most space launch startups.

What makes the strategy interesting is that the flight services and STARLAUNCH businesses reinforce each other. Every hypersonic testing mission adds operational flight hours, revenue, and customer relationships. Every STARLAUNCH engineering milestone — like the completed wind tunnel tests — validates the platform for the launch business. The company isn’t betting everything on an unproven rocket; it’s building toward space launch on top of a fleet that is already flying.

STARLAUNCH Program and GE Aerospace

STARLAUNCH I is designed to carry small payloads to sub-orbital altitudes by releasing a rocket stage from the F-104 at approximately 45,000 feet. In January 2026, Starfighters completed a critical engineering test — wind tunnel trials at both subsonic and supersonic speeds — that confirmed the rocket separates cleanly from the aircraft across all tested flight conditions. That clean separation result, which matched the company’s own computer models, cleared the way for the next stage of development: a formal Critical Design Review (CDR) with support from GE Aerospace.

The CDR is the aerospace industry’s standard checkpoint before a program moves from design into actual fabrication and testing. GE Aerospace’s involvement in the review lends meaningful engineering credibility to the process. CEO Tim Franta has described the STARLAUNCH approach as “a series of practical, documented steps to space” — a deliberate, milestone-driven methodology that is designed to reduce the timeline and cost risk that has derailed so many other small launch vehicle programs.

Blackstar Orbital, Mu-G, and Growing Partnerships

At the Satellite 2026 conference in Washington D.C. in March 2026, Starfighters announced a partnership with Blackstar Orbital Technologies to flight test Blackstar’s SpaceDrone — a reusable, lifting-body satellite designed to launch as a payload and return to Earth like a miniature space shuttle. Under the agreement, Starfighters will carry the SpaceDrone underwing on captive carry flights in Q4 FY2026, culminating in a high-speed release over the Eastern Range off the Florida coast. It is a real-world test that moves Blackstar’s vehicle from wind tunnel simulation to actual flight conditions — and it is exactly the kind of bridging role that Starfighters is positioning its fleet to play across the broader aerospace ecosystem.

The company has also partnered with Mu-G Technologies to provide microgravity flight missions for NASA, universities, and commercial research clients — adding a third mission type to the fleet’s revenue portfolio. And with the expansion of operations to the Midland International Air & Space Port in Texas, Starfighters now has a second base of operations, increasing the range of airspace it can access and the pace at which it can schedule missions. Taken together, these partnerships reflect a deliberate strategy to make the F-104 fleet as broadly useful as possible across the growing commercial space economy.
