Names, email addresses, passwords may have been affected
Dell Inc. said Wednesday it identified unauthorized attempts earlier this month to extract Dell.com customer information on from its network.

Dell, part of closely held Dell Technologies Inc., said the customer information was limited to names, email addresses and hashed passwords.
The company said while it is possible some information was removed from its network, internal investigations haven’t found evidence that any was taken.
“In this age of highly sophisticated information security threats, Dell is committed to doing all it can to protect customers’ information,” the company said in a statement. “This includes encouraging customers to change passwords for other accounts if they use the same password for their Dell.com account.”
