Walt Disney, Chevron share gains lead Dow’s 64-point jump

Shares of Walt Disney and Chevron are posting strong returns Monday afternoon, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.09% was most recently trading 64 points (0.2%) higher, as shares of Walt Disney DIS, +4.42% and Chevron CVX, +2.70% are contributing about 25% of the index’s intraday rally.

Walt Disney’s shares are up $8.74, or 4.8%, while those of Chevron are up $3.46, or 3.6%, combining for a roughly 80-point bump for the Dow. Caterpillar CAT, +3.88%, American Express AXP, +3.22%, and Dow Inc. DOW, +3.46% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark equates to a 6.58-point swing.
